The best way to learn is to take sometime to know your body!.Self examination is the best way to understand your body.
The breast is more easily accessible area for early detection of Cancer.The true fact that more than 90% of breast cancer is found by American women themselves .So It is a critical step to you.
RECOMMENDATION
HOW TO DO A BREAST SELF EXAMINATION(BSE)
1. In Front Of A Mirror
Step 1 : Stand straight with your arms placed on your hips,then observe your breasts that seen in the mirror.
Look For :
- Breasts that are their usual size,shape,and colour
- Breasts that are evenly shaped without visible distoration or swelling.
- Any signs of fluid coming out of one or both nipples (watery,milky,yellowish or blood)
If you see any of the following changes,must see a doctor
- Dimpling or bulging of the skin
- A nipple that has changed position
- Redness,soreness,rash,or swelling
Step 2 : Then raise your both hands and observe your breasts in the same way.
2. Lying Down
Step 3 : Place a pillow under your right shoulder and your right arm behind your head.Using your left hand to feel your right breast, with the finger pads.Move the fingers in a circular motion around your breast and axilla region.Apply light ,medium,and firm pressure. And then your right hand to feel your left breast.Using your left hand.
Apply light pressure to feel the skin and tissue then medium pressure for tissue in the middle of your breast finally use firm pressure for the deep tissue in the back you can feel your ribs now.
Squeeze the nipple;for discharge and lumps.Repeat these steps for your left breast.
3. In The Shower
At last observe your breasts while you are standing or sitting.Many women suggest that the easiest way to feel their breasts is when their skin is wet and slippery.
Step 4 : Move your finger pads in circular motion around your entire breast moving from the outside to the center.
Must do Breast Self Examination (BSE) every-month to find out any lump or thickening .If any changes noticed seek medical advice.
